Earthshake Trikes Washington DC, MD, Virginia States The Capital of the World 5.9 on Richter Scale!
The Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia Areas Attempt to refocus after the Panic that pursued a 5.9 Earthquake! Today at about 2pm EST.
NEWS FLASH: The Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia Area in the United States just Experienced their first Earthquake of a large magnitude in the US. The last known tremor occurred about a year ago ( July 16, 2010) during the late night sleeping hours. Reports are still coming in the tremors were felt as far away as the state of Connecticut.
A Computer Technician in the Merrifield, VA Area reported on his Facebook Status “I was in the Computer Lab when the building started shaking. At first I thought it was a large plane passing by (I don’t know just w wild guess) and it tremor got me rattled! Must have been between a 5 to 6 on the Richter scale.”
A State Department employee Reported Hysteria and Panic during the event. In Addition anyone within the State Department’s confines is unable to use their Cell Phones to contact their loved ones to ensure all is OK!
We received a barage of phone calls in the past 5 minutes from a Washington DC Residents. Their is definite panic! The phone system is most likely swamped at this time Aug 23, 2011 time 2:11pm.
It was reported that the Epicenter "the Heart " of the Earthquake was located smack in the middle of Virginia!
An Alexandria, Virginia Mental Health employee also indicated that employees and mental health case workers “ran out in panic” while attending in the middle of attending thier patience!. There goes sound judgement and reasoning OUT THE DOOR! in PANIC! This event has proved to all of us that DC is not anywhere ready to experience what happens on an almost monthly, sometimes weekly occurrence in non-privileged “Third World” Countries.
In a recent New York times article, it was reported that just yesterday night on Monday at 11:30pm their was an Earthquake as far away as Denver Colorado. The report goes on to say “The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 and centered about nine miles from the city of Trinidad, hit at 11:46 p.m. local time. It was felt as far away as Greeley, about 350 miles north, and into Kansas and New Mexico, said Julie Dutton, a geophysicist at the National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo. ”
In that same report it states “The last known natural event of comparable size was an earthquake in 1882 in what is now Rocky Mountain National Park, several hours northwest of Denver. That quake, based on historical reports, was about a magnitude 6.5, Ms. Dutton said. ”
So far their are no reports of any injuries nor fatalities resulting from this “Earth Shaking” Event! Alexandria City non emergency and essential employees have been dismissed for the remainder of the day while others given Liberal Leave for those still in shock due to the Earthquake.

4:00 PM — Reports of Rioting during the Tremor at DC Lefant Plaza Metro Station and local High Schools. Folks come down! Things could be worse!
